    Backward Compatibility

    Hi Forum,

I've been out of the 3DFA scene for a little while now, but am just starting to look again at some of the new features.

Unfortunately, I can't seem to open any of my old files with the new version. Most of my files were created with version 3.72 and version 4.5.

I assume I won't be able to edit the ones created in 3.72, but I expected the ones created in 4.5 to open at least. Is it worth me trying to open any of these, or have the features changed so much that I have to recreate my animations from scratch?

    Thanks for your help,

    Morgan.

    Hmm.

I've kept testing, and it seems that the old files do open, but it takes 10 minutes to open, and another 10 to perform any action I ask of 3DFA (eg. Double clicking an element to open it). Is this new version supposed to be faster than old ones, or am I doing something wrong?

    Thanks,

    Morgan.

It seems the problem was that the old path in the 'Export' option didn't exist on the network anymore, so 3DFA got itself stuck searching for the network location. Solution was to make sure I changed the export path immediately after opening any old files. Took 10 minutes to open a file, and 10 minutes to go in and change the path, but after that, the new version seems faster !
