[New game] Please help me test
Hi Chaps,
I've just completed writing the sequel to Kinetikz - imaginatively entitled Kinetikz 2 ! If anyone here has a spare few minutes and would like to help play test the game, and let me know if they come across any issues, I'd be most obliged! Here's the linky: Kinetikz 2, which will be active for a short while only.
By the way, the highscore submission/link are not functioning at the moment.
Cheers,
Ric.

I like the game. Its good. Played till level 11. What is the frame rate of your game?

talk to the hand!

What is the frame rate of your game?
It's set at 30 fps, but there is a lot going on, so I wouldn't be surprised if it runs slow on older PC's.
Thanks, although I can't claim the credit for that - it uses the box2D physics engine which is great.

Pretty good idea and concept. It's quite a fun & original game I just think the menu could have a bit of more work, maybe adding a background, but that's just my taste.
This is MC. His _parents sent him to stop() by the super market to buy some _root beer if he wanted to gotoAndPlay() with his friends at the park later.

Game seems quite fine, though it lagged quite heavily for me on rotating.

though it lagged quite heavily for me on rotating
Was this on all levels or just on levels with greater numbers of objects? What kind of spec is your computer?

It was noticeable on all levels.
3 Ghz, single core, Firefox 3, Windows XP.
It it worse when the rectangles are on the stage(the walls).
It is likely the drop shadows or what not going on.

Ok - thanks, I'll do some optimisation and see if I can improve things.

Updated - I think I've managed to reduce the lag when rotating now. Just tested on an old 1.8 GHz single core and it seems better.

Good, seems fine for me now. What did you end up changing?
-
Great - that's a relief! When the board was rotated, the grey background (which was a 600x600 pixel movieclip) was being rotated too. Now I'm just rotating the objects on the game board, not the background itself. As the area is circular, you don't really notice that the background isn't actually rotating.
Turns out that rotating large movieclips (or large numbers of movieclips) is quite taxing on the processor.
Thanks for helping me test - that was a an important discovery.
