Nice first design, while I like clean I think it is a bit too clean still. I'm sure with more content that may change. Not to keen on the pastel like colors and font color choice but thats my personal preference I guess.
What's up with the falling up and down box on the right side, I thought that was a scroll button but its just hangin out there. One thing to keep in mind wiht design as you are a design student is that everything is supposed to mean something to the design, if it doesn't then it doesn't need to be there. Keep that in mind.
Maybe think about animating some of that funky art design you have hidden behind your site, that might be interesting but don't over do it.
