    Shortcut keys don't work in Leopard...what's up?

    simple shortcut commands like F8 to convert to symbols in flash don't work in leopard....is this a known issue?

    instead the commands do whats on the keypad like turn up the volume, brightness, etc.

    ^Just change the keyboard shortcuts.
    flash Professional -> Keyboard shortcuts
    And then change the keyboard shortcuts for converting something to a symbol,

    OR

    Click on the apple in the top left corner -> System preferences -> Keyboard & Mouse -> Keyboard Shortcuts
    And then turn of F8 for Volume (?) by clicking the tick next to it so it is a blank box

    Here is basically how the window should look. Just turn of F8 and other keys used by Flash as keyboard shortcuts.

    Apple changed the keyboard shortcuts for their new keyboards, adding a Fn key on the keyboards. Make sure you've got the right type of keyboard selected and it isn't confused.

    There are two ways to fix this. One, hold down Function and hit F8, or two, go to System Preferences > Keyboard and Mouse and somewhere there should be an option like "Use the F1, F2, F3 keys as standard function keys." With that checked the keys will work normally, and if you hold down Function key and hit them it will change the volume, open the Dashboard, etc.

    Personally I've never liked any of the standard Adobe shortcuts. Hopefully when an all-Cocoa CS5 rolls around I'll be able to actually use their apps without spending 20 minutes creating custom keyboard shortcuts first.
