What is too much for a gym membership?
So im in university, and there is a gym available to me there, but its not that great and probably crowded too. So i dished out 800$ to join this gym
http://www.northfieldclub.com
I dont know whether it is reasonable or not but includes quite a bit of things. Also, I got a personal trainer. A lot of people I talk to said they pay over 1200$ a year for their gyms.. and i thought mine was expensive.
Anyone here have a gym membership and doesnt mind sharing how much they pay?
Also i want to buy ironman on blu-ray (for better quality obv) but i was wondering if i would be able to play a bluray disc on my laptop.... anybody?

One of my flat mates paid 120 pounds for a 4 month membership here.

new gym just opened, so they are having a one day only sign up for $1 down then $10 a month. the only reason id consider paying for a gym membership is because its 24/7
where i work has a small fitness area so i can use that for free.

Any amount of money at all is too much for a gym. Want to use the bike? Get a bike, cycle to work. Want to use the running machine? Run around the freakin' park. Want to do step ups? Use some stairs.
In answer to your other question, do you have a Blu-Ray drive? If you do, then you can play Blu-Ray, if no, then you can't. As far as I know there's only a few latops that even come with Blu-Ray, and they haven't been out for long.

Wait- what now?
We've a full gym at my college, it has the full works and costs us £20 a year.

To be honest I wouldn't pay over $400. So what if they have a sauna and pool etc. Will you ever use them enough to justify the extra cost?
My boxing club has gym equipment and they charge £16 ($30) for 4 weeks.
52 weeks per year / 4 weeks = 13 payments
£16 ($30) x 13 = £208 ($390) so that's just under 400.
I reckon you've been ripped off. You could buy a multi-gym with $800.

I'm assuming that $800 means you don't have a monthly fee?
Having a personal trainer must be part of that cost, and personal trainers are expensive. Still, that's a buttload of money up front. Did you also have to sign some kind of multi-year contract with them?
My work has a fairly nice little gym that I don't have to pay for as long as I use it at least 10 times a month.

I have no space for a bench, squat rack, bars, plates etc. Not to mention the fact that the floor wouldn't appreciate it.

If they offer a "happy ending"... that's not a gym. That's a gentleman's club.
I use that term loosely.

No membership was 800$/year and there is no monthly fee i dont think. But they charge me whenever i bring a guest or something.
The personal trainer deal was an additional 350$~ for 11 half hour lessons... so its like 30$ for every half hour of training. Its a really nice club imo....
I was just not 100% sure whether it was too expensive because i asked this on another forum and ppl said their gyms costed 1000+
