Awesome battle so far. I love the feel of the volleys. There should be more Radiohead-themed battles in the Arena. IMO it's just the right feel.

    Idioteque

sorry for the larger than normal wait! after not saving zacaboo's image and then losing the net for a week it took me 2 days of spare time to find a single image that i wanted to work into this piece then another 2 to finish it. had alot of fun on this one, especially with the shading of the boy's body and the colour work. any crits would be much appreciated

(p.s the font used was 'bd plakatbau' also used on the kid a album cover. availible for free here.)

That's awesome buddy. I love how you kept the movement of the orange creature cohesively through the transition into your image with the splash of the kid. The visual quality of the image is very cool and quiet but contextually gives me a sensation of that heavy thickness you get when you jump into deep water, which speaks to me very loudly. It's not quite what I was expecting for Idioteque but I believe it works well. Very nice.

I'll try to have something up either tomorrow afternoon or the next day.

I'm getting this image of Dante traveling down into hell. I like where this is going. I think I may start a battle with an album theme, trick is finding a good one that isn't to obscure.

    Very novel idea guys, fresh!

as usual with you images the colours are superb. could not fault you there. i also really like the text treatment, wouldn't move it a pixel. maybe a few bit of added detail in the dust to enhance the (possible) meaning of the song would have been cool but overall another kickass image from you.

I have to agree with squid, this is really a striking image. Beautiful color and yes, the text is just right. I think the block you hit was a parking block, cause you were finished. Looks great.

I feel I simply must post, I usually just lurk in these threads...

All of these images have been absolutely spectacular you two! I've been following along slowly stringing them together and I'm continually floored by how well you blend these images.

Wish I knew half as much about this as either one of you

Squid, that's a good idea with adding some detail in the dust. Thanks for the crits, both of you. I worry about how the color will come out on anyone else's monitor because I'm still using a dinosaur 19" CRT that I found on the side of the road four years ago. I just can't bring myself to replace it. ($$)

Can't wait to see Motion Picture Soundtrack from you, Squid.

love it, love it, love it. very simple but effective, much like the song. i like the plane in there, possibly referencing the extensive touring that led to thom writing this song. red and yellow (two colours in my head).. great, anger and fear, it all works. i normally hate both of those fonts, or ones that look very similar atleast but it's spot on.

Awesome work dude. Very clean, wonderful effect with the shadowy figure on the end of the bed, it looks like it's sewn into the sheet or something. I like the ventriloquist doll peeking out as well, very creepy! I'll try to have something up soon so we can wrap this up.

would have liked the have seen the gradient maybe contained to just the yellow section and off the floor but the more i look at it the more i like it. especially in it's place. awsome work dude, definitely the most fun i've ever had in a battle.

did you wanna pm me the png and i'll post the full work? or you can do it, i reckon a 3 or 4px white border or something...

I must say that this has been a very fresh battle. I love the idea and you have both pulled no punches throughout. I think that one thing is what kept the battle going in the right direction.

Very good work to both of you. Cant wait to see the final canvas.
