Tracking PHP data send Progress correctly ?

I already started a thread on a different forum so I'd rather link you guys to that thread instead of repeating myself again: http://www.actionscript.org/forums/s....php3?t=185432

You'll see that tracking the progress is quite easy just that there's a tiny problem. The displayed percentage is just crazy... instead of having something like 24% 55% 87% 100% I'm getting stuff like 100% 56% 87% 99% 100% 56% 100% and I have no idea why and how to solve this.

You'll find a link in that thread to an example I uploaded that demonstrates the problem. If anyone has any ideas why this is happening and how to solve it, then I'd really appreciate some feedback.

    Thanks.

I don't have experience with doing this through as3 yet but since you're looking for ideas I'll throw a couple out.

I clicked your link and only got infinity%, infinity%, infinity%.

    1. have you tried tracing bytesLoaded and bytesTotal by themselves without converting to percent? Way back in as1 days when preloading timelines, totalBytes sometimes returned undefined until the real value could be returned.

    2. would a URLStream object work instead of a URLLoader ?

    3. maybe skip the progress event and use a timer to continually check on bytesLoaded?

Thanks jAQUAN for taking a look. I have no idea why you got infinity% infinity% infinity% maybe you caught my server off guard and it wasn't doing something right because I never got those values

    1. No, I haven't tried that but it's a good idea, I'll try it out and see what happens.

    2. No idea, hadn't try that either but not sure that I can even use URLStream here but I'll check it out.

    3. I don't think this will make a difference since, essentially it's the same thing. I don't know of a progress event bug so I think this point would produce the same results, but just to make sure, I'll check this one too.

    Thanks for the tips.
