How exactly does the loading work?

how does the loading of a SWF-file work? My file loads in a "hidden" mode, so one can see only the end of the preloader. I mean that instead of wathing a nice preloader one has to amuse oneself gazing at the blank screen.
The file is smth about 1,3 MB and contains only the basic design elements and the container for external movies and images. I mean I cannot divide this file into several parts and let them load separately.

Can I influence the loading process in a way that a definite part of the file appears earlier than the complete site?
