3DS Max- omni lights?

hi, i was wondering if anyone could help me with a 3ds max lighting problem. i have my sun in the scene, my free lights are working fine... but my omni lights arent producing any light at all. it says they are turned on. my spot lights arent making any light either. i dont even know where to start looking for the problem; im new to the program and the textbook we were told to buy is for the old version of max :S thanks!

Where can I download promo videos of Maya and 3D Studio Max? You know those videos that they hand out at Graphics Conventions for free? The kinds that show "behind the scenes" of the movies or commercials that made use of the software?
I live outside of the U.S. and conventions like that don't reach here. So I was wondering if they're downloadable somewhere?
