    Plaxico to plead not guilty

Some of you outside of the united states may not know who he is. People inside the united states that dont follow football(american) might not know who he is.

But for everyone else you should know about him. He was reportedly fined nearly 45 times between this year and last year for off field problems, and rule violations.

And over the weekend he shot himself in the leg at a night club. with a gun.

He is now pleading not guilty to criminal gun possesion. there is no way you can win this case is thier? i mean he shot himself in the leg. he had to have had a gun.

"Mr burress, did you shoot yourself in the leg?"

    "uhh yes"

"so you were in possesion of a gun?"

"no sir, shot myself with my laser eyes"

Meh, good riddance. Coughlin was more than prepared for this, and the Giants have proved their passing game is just fine without him. You can't do stuff like this if you're not a make or break player. They did better without Shockey, and they'll do just fine without him.

Oh, this just gets better for me:

“I think also it is just outrage that the hospital didn’t do what they’re legally required to do,” he said. “It’s a misdemeanor, it’s a chargeable offense and I think that the district attorney should certainly go after the management of this hospital.”
I used to work at that hospital. The management there are the biggest greedy bastard douchebags ever. I'm loving this.

@PAlexC - When will the NY Times website STOP requiring you to sign in? What the f**k?

That being said, I agree that Coughlin has complete control of his squad and was more than prepared to fill in for Burress without a hitch in the offense. Should we lose Antonio Pierce to some sort of suspension, we are going to be pretty f-d. He is not only a leader on D, he is THE leader.

I don't know why everyone is being so hard on the guy. This could have happened to anyone.

Yeah. I carry a gun in a place that has an active ban on them all of the time because of my jewels that I chose to wear.

I don't get why rich people carry around guns in public places. You want protection then just hire guns. No need to carry around a gun to some nightclub in New York unless you're looking to flash it around.

I'm getting to that stage in my life now where I look at some of these athletes and think what piss-poor role models they are for young kids.

Charles Barkley's "I am not a role model" was more true than we originally thought.

yeah, and you know...when Barkley said that, everyone lashed out at him. And at the time I defended him...because I thought he was right. Athletes are athletes, they're not always thinking about how their personal lives effect their image. But it seems lately sporting has become like gangster life. Drugs, wife beating, gun charges, assault, dogfighting, hit and runs, DUIs, public drunkeness, cocaine boat parties, you name it.

pleading not guilty, is how you go about getting the DA to plea bargin

you get several chances to 'plea' actually...

even if the state believes there is no way you can win at a trial.... you still say not guilty.. to give your lawyer time to negotiate.

Usually the state will not want to waste the time/money for a full trial and they will offer something less in order to secure your guilty plea and waive a trial/chance to protest any evidence.

you get a gun charge in your life.. and you are fubar'd

The whole "role model" thing is about Bloomberg trying to appear tough before the election. When the economy is down, crime goes up, and NYC is on a tight budget. He wants to re-assure people that the law won't fall to sh*t, that's why he's sending the DA after NYP.
