Whenever you click on a button it loads a new background - is this loading a whole new movie? Or is it within one movie? If it is multiple movies wouldnt that be hard a low bandwith users?

Na, it's probably just a new image. I'd guess its two images - one with the blur and bloom, and the other, with alpha changes to simulate the blend.

At least thats how I'd tackle it

Yup - each background has two copies - the normal one and one with a lot of motion blur in it - they're just flashing into the blurry one before tweening the brightness way up.

Interesting, very interesting. As far as the buttons go though.. When you click a new image comes out - does it load a new SWF or is it possible to do it within one FLA and load from within? I tried loading new SWFs but there are huge lags in between the button pressing and the new SWF appearing.. here in that site it is seamless it seems..

Yeah - those are definitely preloaded and just kept invisible off stage until needed.

Very interesting thank you for the feedback and quick responses, very much obliged. I like the layout, so simple but so sleek.
