The countdown has already started here.
To recap:
Swift 3D v6.0 Feature #1 - 3D Boolean Operations
We've added a Boolean primitive to our modeler, which allows you to combine or punch holes through objects using other 3D objects in your scene. It's all non-destructive, allowing easy editing and unlimited possibilities!
This feature essentially allows you to combine, intersect, and subtract portions of 3D entities in your drawing
Combine – merges (or adds together) two or more 3D objects.
Intersect – shows the portion where two or more 3D objects overlap.
Subtract – eliminates parts of 3D objects.
Swift 3D v6.0 Feature #2 - 5X Faster Raster Rendering Speed + Additional 5X with Multiprocessor Support
We've added a new rendering algorithm to our ray tracer that will render up to 5x faster speeds (some of our testers have reported up to 10x faster) rendering speeds of raster 3D images. Additionally, Swift 3D v6 is now taking advantage of multiprocessor machines, adding another 5x faster processing power.
Swift 3D v6.0 Feature #3 - Soft Shadow Support
Now you can add that extra photo realism to your raster scenes by rendering soft shadows from area lights.
So far, the addition of booleans, already present in the Photoshop CS4 plugin, is a great addition... one I've been asking for since version 2.0!
Check the above link out, but knowing that version 6 is around the corner has me excited again.
