    I need a photo manager

Does anyone know of a photo manager (for linux or windows) which will let me tag photos with custom tags, and then let me do a real-time seach, like the seach bar in winamp?

It would also be nice if it could manage galleries like in lightroom.

    Cheers.

    Why not just use lightroom?

With vista you can tag and rate photos right in explorer

Bridge does, but it is so damn slow, I'd rather watch molasses drip in the dead of winter.

Ah nice one, didn't know that lightroom did it.

It's a little slow though and I'd rather leave lightroom for editing, and have something else for the organisation/viewing.

I have no idea if it does tags, but there's always http://picasa.google.com/

    Picasa does exactly that.

I'm ashamed to say, I can do a better job correcting photos in Picasa than Photoshop:

If you shot that in raw try doing 2 exposures. One for the foreground and one for the rest and then blend them together. That could be a great shot.

and why does everyone have all these cameras and no one is posting in the forum? Get to 88 NOW!

I didn't have a tripod, no way I could do 2 exposures right.

Those photos are a year old and I haven't cleaned them up yet. I should really post some in the photography forum.

No, I meant if you shot in RAW you can "develop" the image twice once for the foreground and another for the background and then in PS blend them together.

Ah, yes. I did shoot raw. But I'm useless at correction at that level in PS. Tutorials?

Quick google. In this it is actually using 2 different shots taken in camera but all you have to do is make two from the raw file playing with exposure.

Eh? Why don't you make a tutorial so I can follow it in the Photo Forum? I have a couple of images - I don't shoot RAW though.

When I get some down time perhaps I will put something together. That link shows it exactly though except instead of 2 in camera you make 2 out of the raw.

hmmm time to get this photo forum popping and perhaps it will get my motivated too.
