    GeoCities goodbye!

"On October 26, 2009, your GeoCities site will no longer appear on the Web, and you will no longer be able to access your GeoCities account and file," Yahoo wrote in a statement to GeoCities users.

In 1999 Yahoo paid $3.65 billion (!) for geocities.com & $5.7 billion (!!!) for broadcast.com (ever heard of it?). What a great investment!

    Poor Yahoo.
I'm surprised that Maxpages are still up! Wondering if it's all that advertising running the site now..

I allowed it. It's a (possibly) legit coupon code, so why not capitalize on it?

    Confirmed... it works.

Yeah, I even had to post about this one - http://bit.ly/3cxYuo

There's a few domains I've been wanting to obtain. 1st year only is offered at that price though.

This news is like goldmine. Any savings anywhere is a boon at the moment.

Wow that actually kind of sucks. You could always find old game roms and stuff on geocities sites.

Ha, I remember about 7 - 8 years ago when I'd do a search on Google geocities seemed to be a lot of the results.

    Oh well. =/

Good old Geocities, I think I started out making websites with that. It's a piece of Internet history from my time as a kid. But Yahoo is just terrible at investment.
