    Flash Gordon may cut the head of the Flash player

    Look at this sh*t : Flash Gordon

    It's implemented in pure Javascript and HTML5, and the whole thing is open source, MIT-licensed.

    I ask you all to concentrate really hard on the freedom of all being.     I gotta look into it some more but if it's just the same canvas tricks we've been seeing, it's not flash.

    Looks to be JS+SVG converted from Flash/SWF. And that's with me reading like... three sentences.

    It may take 10 years or a bit less for HTML 5 to get adopted as much as the flash player but still... JS is still amazing me.

    To start to do that, they'd have to block JavaScript. And that would cripple their own browser.

    Doubtful. Workarounds as such were inevitable.

    There are too many hurtles to overcome to make this stuff anything but a tech demo. Most people only really want flash on iPhone because they can't have it. Flv's are the only real content that would benefit and mp4's will outpace their ubiquity anyway. Most flash sites wouldn't scale well anyway.

    iPhones are only big in the US... take a read.

    The importance of the iPhone is exaggerated here in the US. And it's annoying.

    I'd love to see Ogg Theora - despite being against it earlier - and HTML5 <video> actually be worth a damn in the future mobile browsers.
