    CS4 3D raised effect

    I have a picture of a camera lens, I want to spin it in CS4 using the 3D tools. That part is easy but I need to make the lens look like it is thick, like using the 3D animation in illustrator where you can raise the object "EXTRUDE". I tried manipulating the bevel filter and it works but only looks good at certain angles. I need to have the object look like it had lines around the side, follow?

    any help?
