    Image Decode Error

Just started with CS4 edition and I'm looking at creating some mobile screensavers. However, I've run into some issues when placing a jpg on the stage. I get the message "Image Decode Error" come up once I run the movie. What is this all about?

Thanks for the reply mate. The jpeg is 1.29mb. I didn't expect that to be of significance because I used the line tool to cut the image into a much smaller movie clip symbol.

1.2mb is probably too large for memory for the phone or emulator profile you are testing with. JPEG expands into memory, so it gets larger after it loads.

Just as an experiment you might try loading a much smaller jpeg like 100k and work upward to find out the memory limit. You also need to test this on the phone because sometimes the CS emulator does not reflect memory in the same way as the device. Sometimes the device has more memory than the emulator and other times its the other way around.
