Buying a desktop PC-- Free Stuff from me

hi all... this is what happened to my laptop:

I was playing poker and lost 14k$ this morning and started to slam my toshiba laptop. I was super mad and now i need a new computer. I'm thinking of spending around 1000$ (not including monitor/peripherals). I need a fast processor, im thinking of an i7, and dont really need it for gaming but that would be nice.

i'm mostly gonna be using it for poker but i usually have a ton of applications running.

I know the people on this forum are smart, so if u help me pick a machine+specs, i will send u a set of poker chips to the person with the most similar specs/features of the computer i pick out.

i'm probably not gonna buy it online, but if u can link me to a great deal online i'd appreciate it so i can bargain at the store.

I don't know the difference between an i7 and an i5 and although I'm sure they're both sufficient to do web browsing and poker at the same time... Do u think they'd show any difference when they are running like 20 browsers and a bunch of downloads and music as well as poker??

Don't buy an Intel Core i3 - that's the low end. Core i7, high end. Core i5, middle of the road. I've seen very little difference in web, multimedia functions between the Core i5 and Core i7; only FPU/GPU/CPU intensive apps like heavy duty apps will you see a difference.

For your needs, it's more than enough. Up the RAM to 6gb perhaps, call it a day.

I have an i7 with 9 GB of RAM and it can handle web browsing, poker, and itunes and the same time. Sometimes, when I'm feeling crazy, I'll even open up Photoshop and Flash.

it works great and im more than satisfied with windows 7.... one thing that sucks is the mouse and keyboard that came with the system. I dont know how anyone can expect to use this mouse for gaming....

also what games are good right now?

He actually did send me a tshirt. I'll give him that. I was shocked. It's about 2 sizes too big, so I don't wear it, but nonetheless, it is in my possession.
