I like it - is there a little HDR/Exposure blending going on there?

I would have preferred a more spectacular angle and I really do not see the need for toning it this way...what is the idea behind this shot and the pp?
maybe a closeup to show some technical details would be nice

Nope no exposure blending or anything. A bit of editing in the RAW converter especially with the temps and then in PS I just did some levels and color curves.

What do you mean spectacular angle? Like some low angle weird skewed view? Because that's exactly what I was trying NOT to do. I wanted the straight on isolated look. I was trying to see how well this sigma can separate objects(that was shot at f/2).

As far as the color tones- it was just experimental. I wasn't looking to have them be "natural"

you should have mentioned it's just a a lens test...

amazing sharpness all over the image as far as I can tell from a 72 dpi shot

Well it wasn't JUST a lens test. I was actually just shooting. I personally like the image and it prob will never go into a gallery or anything so I guess it's just fine

I did however look through a memory card full of photos last night and I KNOW I center point focused on someones eye and her eye is slightly OOF and her bangs are razor sharp. So I think I need to do some real technical test on this lens with my 40D and see if it needs to be sent in for a calibration. I think it may be back focusing slightly. I wish I had a camera with microadjustment because I know it is only slightly off and that could do it...no need to send in my equipment. I really don't want to be without a camera for weeks...

Yeah agreed - I love my MicroAdjustment.

Had to use it on the 70-200 f/2.8L IS II last week, only +3 needed but sooo much of a difference!

OK - Stoopid question time - how do you micro adjust? And - can I do it on my 5D? Or is it a lens thing?

Only the newer models have it. It lets you front or forward focus a lens depending on what's wrong. You can adjust them quite a bit from what I've seen. The 7D, 50D, 5D Mark II, 1D, and I think the newest Rebel series let you do it. You can even profile it to each lens.
