    Question AS3 Script Library?

Is anyone using the Script Library? I think it's a great idea but it seems to have a way to go before it is really useful. Is there a status on it? General inquiry only, no need to rush.

One of the first things I found was I had to copy the XML file to a location outside of the Koolmoves file structure, edit it, and then copy it back in. Also had to change the folder attributes from read only to writable. I'm using Vista... kind of a pain. Otherwise I can't develop any script within the library. Maybe there is an easier way?

There is a better way. Here I am answering my own questions! I went to:

Control Panel/User Accounts and turned off the User Account Control.

Now I can copy , edit and save within the Script Library folder. I hope this is useful to anyone else who has run into a problem like this.

Nice that you found a solution for your problem Eric.

By the way ... I visited your blog and love your Corel Painter 11 creations.

The intent of the script library was for people to submit scripts to us that could be shared by all, not so much for people to archive their own scripts.

is the only way to create a script library by editing the xml file?

this seems awkward...I have to cut and paste each line of code individually.

is there a better way, where I can just cut and paste a chunk of script?

    cheers

ahhh I see now....I can add a chunk of script to the xml...I thought I had to list each parameter individually - but this is only an option

You wanted to know the status. I was hoping that people would contribute scripts to us that we could include with future releases. It didn't work out that way. I will give some thought to the Vista security issue.

I can't do anything about the Vista security issue. The xml file will have to be edited outside Program Files sub folder and then copied to the script library folder.

Yes, that is one way...another way is to go to...

Control Panel/User Accounts and turn off the User Account Control.

Then you can copy , edit and save within the Script Library folder.
