flash mouseover
Hi all,
This is more of a "help me help myself" post. I'm not looking for you all to do the work for me.
Where could I go to learn how to create the mouseover effect as shown in the link below? I don't need the circles to move around, but I do like the ripple effect upon the mouseover.

How long do you think it would take me to learn how to do this? I'm technically oriented and have intermediate web design skills.

There is a lot going on in those mouseovers..
You have the stopping of the item, you have targets moving around, you have sound, and you have the animation.
Can you be a bit more specific?

sure thing. I am only focusing on the ripple. Not interested in the sound or the fact that the circles are moving around.
Learning flash from scratch, how long would it take, and what tutorials would be most useful?
I'm already knowledgable on how to create the images in Photoshop.

Hi,
You want to look into basic flash animation and button control.
From a guess, you would have 10 frames inside a MovieClip which has the rollOver effect. That would be followed by another 10 frames of the rollOut effect for when the mouse leaves the button. On frame 10 you would have stop(). When the mouse goes over the MovieClip using on(rollOver){} it would do gotoAndPlay(10). When the mouse leaves the MovieClip it would gotoAndPlay(11) via on(rollOut){}.
If you are doing it with AS3 then would be same idea but with addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OVER,bleh).
Check out the flashkit tutorials on interaction http://www.flashkit.com/tutorials/.
It isn't that complicated and you could probably crack it out in a day if you give it a bash.
