    Internal AND external speakers?

Is there a way to use the external speakers from the output of my laptop and the internal speakers at the same time? I tried playing around with hardware options, didn't seem to help any.

    (HP, Windows 7)

I'd highly doubt it. It's not a software driven event. As with most audio equipment, when you plug something into the headphone-type out, there is a switch built in which will cut power to any other outputs (including internal speakers.)

So it'd probably take another sound card or something like that?

To do what? You still wouldn't be able to use the internal speakers. Isn't this a laptop? Are you talking about some sort of USB-type sound card? If so, then possibly.

    No.
Another card will mean the computer or you will decide which card (internal or external) will be the out. Unless you are trying to split midi(dx or asio) and wav. Of if you have something like Live/acid you can choose which out for the audio but you won't get both.

What are you trying to do?
It reads like you need a mixer with a monitor buss

I'd prolly be able to explain better if I understood your purpose.

Example one - you need to hear what you are playing but you also want to feed it to a cannon vizxa or like camera with with line/mic inputs.

Cheap Solution - pick up splitter (not "Y" ) cables send one set to your camera and another to powered speakers.
More expensive solution get a 04 channel mixer. Like a mackie 1404 or an alto
    You have
    A (Main) = left right
B (Monitor bus) - Left Right
The head phones can switch between a or b take main out and send it to where ever you want it to go (public or recorder) B you can use to cue/preview under headphones (like oldschool record dj's)

Otherwise you'll have to go with an m-audio fast track pro and use the headphones out on it for listening.

Haha it really isn't important, just trying to tinker out of curiosity really. Just trying to get more output with only my laptop and some small externals available, didnt know it'd be too difficult to turn it all on haha. Makes sense though I suppose
