my mask does not reveal static text in Flash 8 what can I do?

Hi...I am a newbie to this forum so I hope that you can help?

I am trying to mask some static text I have imported from my flash library in .png format. so that as the mask slides down the text it REVEALS the TEXT line by line.

In my layers panel I have created a mask layer that sits above my masked layer(static .png text).

However when I export to movie the massk erases the text line by line. I have tried different options but nothing seems to make it reveal the text.

I need your help! what must I do?

    Hi welcome to the forum.
Assuming you are using tweened frames.
Your first mask frame will be where you want to start the animation.
This wont be on top of the text you want to display. It will be top, bottom, right or left of where you want the animation to come from.. The last frame will be the mask over the text.
It's sounds like you have it the other way about.

    hope it helps
