URGENT : Help needed with video record site
Hi there...
I am a South African designer who has been tasked by a charitable organisation to create a site similar to http://www.itsnopicnic.tv/.
The only difference is we will be holding a comp that people have 25 seconds to tell the public something they can do in 25 seconds that will make a difference to homeless children in our country EG. buy a street kid a loaf of bread.
People will then watch the clips, vote for thier favourite and then the winning idea will get implemented acros many multi national companies acros SA and this will jumpstart a movement of 'kindness'.
I have come across so many applications such as "Web FLV recorder" that seem to be the right thing to purchse to create some thing like this, but i wanted the advice of a company such as yourselves that deal with this sort of site on a daily basis.
Is there anywhere i can get source flash files (FLA's) to start with.?
Please advise as i dont want to purchase the wrong apps to make this happen.
I will wait on your response.
Thanks
Dru Mincher

You do know that you will have to have a streaming server in order to use that application, right?
That means for starters you will need a dedicated server and a host which will allow you to install Red5 or Flash Media Server on the machine. Looking at the requirements for Web FLV Recorder:
◦WebFLVRecorder requires web server with Red5 installed.
◦We recommend that you purchase at least a VPS or semi-dedicated server for your website.
Not that any of this is impossible to do... all it takes is MONEY!
A dedicated server will be about 10 times as expensive as a shared server, and while Red5 is open source (free!), it takes somewhat of an expert to install and correctly configure it.
So before you purchase any software, be sure you understand the server requirements and have contacted your Web site host about the dedicated server part.
Best wishes,
Video Man
