Help with arrow selections?

Hi I'm using Flash MX to make a dress up game and I wanted to have multiple arrow selections.

When I use the
on (press) {
_root.Hair.nextFrame();
}
It merely changes the color of the movie clip rather than going to the next frame which has the next shape (which I need it to do)

And putting a movieclip inside of another movieclip wont let me change it either.

Is there any way to get the manes and the patterns to change independently with arrows?
