    control one movieclip timeline from button in another

    Hi everyone. I am a novice at best and need some help.

    I have two movieclips. One movieclip is a slideshow of images with labels on the timeline. The other movieclip contains thumbnails of the same images which are buttons for the user to jump to the next image. I thought I could do this with simple functions but turns out I cant. I need help writing the code that will make this happen. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
