The problem could be any number of things, the message just means that the connection to the server has failed.
The server may be down, it may not be a streaming server (are you attempting to stream to Adobe Flash Media Server or Red5, or some other streaming server??).
You could have the wrong URL to the server, or the wrong stream name
Your encoder may not be working correctly...
The list goes on and on.

You know, I use Red5 myself but only for streaming live events, not for playback of recorded videos... so I'm not sure. But here is a group that has provided me with help in the past:
    http://groups.google.com/group/red5interest/topics
Give that a try. There is a lot of good discussion about using Red5 there.
    Best of luck,

There are a number of Red5 apps for recording:
    http://www.red5.org/forums/topic/52-...deo-with-red5/
    and
    http://www.webresourcesdepot.com/ope...red5-recorder/
or there may even be a demo recorder already included once you get Red5 set up.
But using a streaming media server like Red5 is a very expensive way to playback pre-recorded videos.. since it has to be installed on it's own dedicated server. Have you checked with your Web host to make sure they will allow you to install the Red5?

Is Red5 correctly installed and up and running?
Can you playback and interact with the various demos that come with the server?
Do all the demos work correctly?

To be honest, I don't know.
I think you would get a better answer if you asked that question directly in a Red5 Forum:
    http://groups.google.com/group/red5interest/topics
There are many experts in that group, including Red5 core developers.
    Best wishes,
