    Event Imports AS3/FLEX/AIR

    Greetings to all.

    This is one of those things in flash development that I have never use and never really grasp what exactly is hapenning when the code below is on a as class .

    [Event(name="UPDATE", type="flash.events.Event")]

    I have seen this a lot in the pass and never really know excatly what it is doing, what its purpose and what is its benefits or lack thereof.

    Can any member shed some light of this for me?

    my understanding is this:

    it is a flex embed tag that lets the IDE and the compiler know that this class dispatches this event at some point. This way, in the IDE when you type object.addEventListener() it can auto suggest the right type of events for you. Not so sure about the compiler side really if any so i won't speculate.

    have you tried looking at adobe docs related to this? (if there is any?)

    I'ts difficult to seasrch for this even on adobe's docs as I do not know what is its proper name. There has to be naming for this syntax, I suppose I can try emdeding events but that looks and sounds weird.
