Gradient text not working... I've done it before

I set up a gradient rectangle and used a text layer as a mask, so the text gets a gradient. It's not working though! It shows on the stage correctly, but when compiling the swf it just shows the gradient. Same when seeing it in a browser.

I did this just a few weeks ago and it worked fine. Though I don't have that file to start from (freelance gig, didn't think I'd need the files...). So is there something I'm missing? Using Flash CS5, Mac.

The text was set as selectable! Once I turned that off it worked fine.

Probably because you're using a Textfield as the mask. Try right-clicking your Textfield and press Break Apart, do this twice so that your text is completely vectorized
