    Hosting - Socket Server

Yo, my current webhost is servage.net. They're great so far but I'd like to try get into using socket servers, I don't know too much about setting one up though. I've found Electroserver, Smartfox and recently giant flying saucer. These are all java based socket servers however...To my dismay my webhost does not support these. And from what I've found not many webhosts do, the ones that do are considerably more costly.

So are there any other ways to work with socket connections for things like chat or user interaction other then java? Or any good webhosts out there that I could use without paying such a high price? I'm unable to setup my own server so am restricted to a webhost Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!
