Flash cs6 allows only certain characters to be entered.
I've inherited a .fla file for drawing. When I export to the .swf or even when I look in the preview, the text box accepts only certain characters, the keyboard doesn't even respond to others.
Huh? What The Funny?

Hi,
Sounds like you might need to embed the font.
To do that, simply highlite a text field and select the embed option, then select the glyphs you require.

I tried that just now. I brought up the Embed dialog, I selected Verdana, all glyphs and said ok. (I tried it both ways, highlighting the object first, then getting into the text box itself). Then I tried publishing both using Flash, then browser. No effect.
If it matters, the only characters that DO work on the keyboard are: ainoprst
Strange.

Hi,
In tha case it might be better to see your *.fla, if it's too big perhaps make a skeleton version of the problem and attach it

Hi,
OK, I received your file, there is a textField with the name "journal_input", select it, choose embed and then choose all, or whichever you desire, then publish. now working.

I don't see that in the library? Where else would I find journal_input? (Yes, I am a newbie).

Hi,
when you open the fla, you see an image/text saying journal here, the text field to the right of that is called journal_input, select it, choose embed , choose all or whichever you like.

I found the field using Movie Explorer Alt-F3. You say choose on embed. But I see that neither at Properties nor in the menu. Where do I choose that?

Hi,
OK, last time, once you have selected the textfield, look in the properties panel and choose embed, check the all box.

Got it. I looks great in Flash mode, now I'll publish for the .swf
Thanks for your patience.
