I quite sure you won't find an absolutley free domain name. Maybe if you sign up with their hosting. But if you do find something like that please let me know. Thanks.

resolved No such thing as a free lunch...

Yup, as far as I know, the only way to get your own URL with no pop-up ads or banners is to pay the Man. Any other "free" hosting service has to pay for what they're giving you, so they put the ugly banners/ads/pop-ups on your site and you can't do a thing to that space they take up.

Maybe a low-cost alternative? My host, http://www.hostsave.com , does some good low-cost hosting (about 7.00/month prepaid), but you still have to shell out cash to register the domain ($70 for the first 2 years).

I've been hearing about people getting domains cheaper, but was wondering if it's the same kind of deal as the free hosting...is it really cheaper? Anyone care to enlighten me?

for the record cjb.net isn't a hosting service it is a site rideriction service.
for cheap domains with no gimmicks try http://14dollars.com
I used them and they worked out great this along with kraken's http://hostsave.com could be the cheapest way to go!

You know you can just go with http://www.namezero.com and get a java script frame breaker, so when it loads it reloads the main frame and kills the ad.

I saw one guy on http://www.namezero.com who had the banner on one page and it redirects you to his page none of the other pages had the ad and he posted it right on the namezero message board.

I did the whole banner killing thing and namezero just killed my script after about 2 weeks but no disiplinary action was taken against me.
I found the script at http://bannerkillers.cjb.net
I hope this isn't something that mark disagrees with me posting but i don't think its bad it's more educational, learning javascript!
