This site totally kicks, found it in another forum. Only problem is the HTML is not centered. The Flash is Cool, and Navigation kicks!

Get Some
not too bad
I'm surpised how much CPU processing it took up for how simple the animations were, not to mention the size of the download. I hate to use this site as it is way over hyped but look at http://www.2advanced.com and see the background image with the little beads that shoot across the screen. That image smokes this one, and I bet they got the idea from seeing the 2advanced site or the vir2l.com site. Also, at some point they luanch you into html to view the 3-d gallery. A true model for flash would be one entirely in flash. there are some cool things happening here though. The mouse overs looked good. I didn't get a real sense of unifying design theme, more like random elements they saw and spliced together. they could trim the file size a lot and still have the same impact.

I actually thought the navigation was a bit cumbersome..
it's not a bad site though! certainly alot of work went into it's construction... :P
I'm just going to ignore the 2A remarks. if I hear one more remark about that bleeping site I'll probably just throw up on my keyboard..

Way cool. The background globes with the electrons(?) going back and forth are really cool. But is it really taking that much CPU or is it just a slow frame rate?
My only problem with it was in the sections with the pull down menus, if you move your mouse off the button before the menu is done building, it disappears - and this is really irritating when it goes so slow.
The music is cool, but gets repetitive.
Other than that - Great Job!!!

To karnak: Ha ha!!!
To others: Come on then Flashkit members, sounds like karnak needs someone out there to create a new kick-ass site we can start comparing other sites to!!
Funny stuff....

I checked out that 2Advanced site and it is not bad. Pretty cool in some aspects.I think it looks just like all the other sites he has done. Also his 3D skills lack, the logo actualy (the ring) intersects through the circles at one point, which would not fly by the 3D standards I have noticed. Alot of gray as well. Also his circle things have no direction/motive in the background.
On another note, the site ran just fine on 500MHZ PIII(Katmai) and you could probably get one of those free now.And if anyone who knows anything about Interactivity/Animation including client buisness's have at least that.
And make the rest in the Flash section as well would probably greatly increase the size of the movie because they look as if they are all .bmp's in the galleries...which is one of your complaints, size.
I do not know, but I think they did a great job!

Please dont throw up. It can't be that bad a site. I realize its an over quoted site (2advanced) but I'm not inserting "its just another rip off" comment. I also know the argument that design has been around before the internet but show me a printed piece of material with little white beads that move across the background. Maybe Japanimation but I have no homework to back that, so I'm guessing that element comes from somewhere internet related. I'm pointing out a specific element that is done much better in two other sites. One happens to be E. Jordan's. Can anyone provide me where this style comes from? I would love to intelligently discuss it. I personally don't like any of these sites myself. I long for the ease of navigation like http://www.zombo.com

The Phattest Bwoy at Flashkit
come on people.....how an u say that all sites should be like this? it's allright but it still looks beginner.
sorry don't mean to make anyone feel bad....but i'm getting tired of these kind of postings at the cool sites.

Actaully karnak, you do raise an interesting point, about the use of lines and dots on an otherwise plain image to give it a more "edgier" look if you like. It's something I've been looking at during the design of my own site (when I get the time during work designs!), which is leaning towards the use of lines, dots, squares...etc integrated with a main background image.
I try to imagine some of the imagery I see on other sites, and how it would look without, say, this dotted line here, and the couple of lines there, but maybe i'm looking too deep, and should just take the thing as a whole, and basically: Does it work??
Does anyone know anything about the theory involved in this, and where it's come from at all?? Or is it just about breaking up an image with any kind of "noise" that gives an appearance of motion, or interactivity or similar??
One of the things I do lack being a self taught designer is a lot of the theory behind certain designs and styles, so any enlightenment on this aspect would be very welcome.
Cheers

Ximensions.com
The download size is big, but I think it is worth it considering the animations the colours and naviagation are good. I reckon you shouldn't have to download the entire swf at once, just enough for the starting interface and then download as you need the rest.

Sul,
I'll agree to disagree with you about that point, to a certain extent anyway.
One of the best things about Flash is that it streams, so while a user is looking at one part of a site the rest of it can be loading "behind the scenes" if you like. When used well this is very, very effective, and effectively cuts out all subsequent download times.
Yes, I do agree there are times when it is preferable to use "load movie" and so forth, but if you can plan a site that loads while the user is looking at some other part of the site, so it seems like they don't wait for anything, then you would have to agree this would be the prefect answer. Web users hate waiting, as you know, so the more to get around wait times the better.
Cheers

LOL. I was wondering about that posting. no big deal. These posts are just to exchange ideas and laugh at ourselves. Man, zombocom sucks now. That used to be so fantastic.

the graphic design...
... is terrible. They are whether flash nor graphic designer. The use of typography is very, very bad. Bad layout, etc...
I agree with gobhi, i hope to find really cool sites in this section.

First off, I would like to say that line screen larry, you ROCK!!
Second I would like to say seems you are all talking about a site that me and one other guy created. I never thought it would get here.
(Also I understand creative critisism, and it helps)
Third, lets see what you got!!!(Becir, Amigo!, what did you do for Oracle?)
Also I realize these are just all your opinons, just like some people like anchovies and some don't. I am truley sorry I had to find this here. Also I agree with larry, I see alot of the same sites.
You would like to know where those dots came from??? The background, if you noticed somewhat represents a space-station/transportation tubes. Seems odd to have little pods traveling through these, HUH???!!!
Also I am sorry to all of you who have a problem with this site, I tried and I am sorry that I was not up to snuff.
And to those who appreciated it, thanks it is people like you who keep it alive.

Very intriguing. I'm on my laptop this afternoon with a 56 k modem and the download time is inexorable. Perhaps that warning pop-up could load before the initial 2 minute wait? =]

The Definition of...
The site took no time for me to download and the frame rate must be very low because it just creeped along on my G4. I don't see anything all that intriguing but it is always within the eye of the beholder.

Couldn't agree more. 900+ K for this? Give me a break. Flash is supposed to pack high quality into a reduced file size. After looking through the whole site I cannot imagine how it would even bust 100K if it were designed by someone who knows their stuff. As for the site itself, the graphic work, spheres and such, are of low standard. The typography is not good. Also many functions seem to work incorrectly, areas disappearing with certain mouse movements before they can even be read. I may sound harsh in my criticsm but after saying "All sites should be modelled on this" - Hahaha!!!! Get serious, really.
