    Hi, Simon,

I think that may be a bug in Flash when an SWF file containing a symbol font is imported.

Last month, August Branchesi posted a work-around on this forum, and I made a copy of his suggestion (although I haven't tried it yet). Once the file is imported into Flash, highlight the letter (which should be a Wingding symbol) and change it to another font. Then, change it back to the Wingding font and it should appear properly.

    Regards,

    Bill

Recently purchased Swish - great Software.

However, in a small movie I have recently created I used a 'Winding' font. When I export the movie as a 'swf' into Flash 4 the Winding font is replaced by a normal letter font despite the fact that the Winding font is avaialable in my copy of Flash 4 !!

    Any ideas anyone ??

Thanks for the reply Bill. However, once you have exported the Swish .swf file into Flash the Winding font is no longer a font. Everything is converted into a symbol so you cannot edit it as a font ! Have I understood you correctly ?

Yes this is a bug in Flash. It will import 'letter' fonts ok, but not 'symbol' fonts (e.g. windings)

If the text object uses a 'complex' effect (see help) the text will be exported as shapes rather than text, and Flash will import it correctly.

    Cheers, David.

It could be considered a bug in flash
but it also could be the way wingding fonts
    are saved.

When I altered a wingding font for my needs
I saved the font as a normal font and not as a symbol or wingding type font. This
fixed the flash problem and also
fixed a problem I had with a font viewer
that also refused to show other dingbat fonts

    cheers
