Open Source movies? Make it legally clear as well.

    The proposed structure is nice.

It would also be great if you clarified the intended use of the contributions.

In one spot you say "for educational purposes only". In another,
    "open source".

I would guess that some authors intend for their contributions to actually
be open source, meaning we can re-use the code and/or graphics under some license restrictions.

"open source" has a clear meaning, and Flashkit, of all orgs, should be helping
to maintain the integrity of that term.

The structure should have an area for movies and tools that are truly open source.

For more on the subject, see http://www.opensource.org.

All movies are open source for non commerical projects and learning work. For commerical use the author should be contacted first.

Well the hardest thing is going to be moving the exisitng files across, so we need some volunteers!

In return we will give a bit of promotion to volunteer websites!!!! Any takers?

What do you mean by moving the existing files across? From what to what? Server to server? How would you like this done?

No, we have an existing category structure, so what we need to do is add all the new categories, and then move from the exisitng categpries to the new ones, we have an admin interface for this, we just need extra hands!

    Smile New structure

That structure looks very well organized.

I hope you'll find a better way of downloading an open source. Because you now have to open several links to actually download the Fla.
First you have to preview the movie in a new window then when you click the download button another popup window (credits) appears. If the link does'nt do the job in 5 seconds again you have to click on the link. Sometimes my computer asks me if I want to save the file i just downloaded. So again I have to click somewhere.

The People at FlashPlanet gave me two options "view" and "download". Works very fast.

Don't get disappointed about these comments. FlashKit is the best organised and uptodate Flash Site in the world.

    Greetings from the Netherlands.

    resolved

Well the structure looks good but...not sure but I don't know if text & picture as a menu like before is the best solution. I mean why don't use Flash ? I know, a big reference site like this one has to keep some serious. Anyway, the menu could be done in Flash...for more speed (I'm talking about refreshing)! I think Data base notion will not bring more prob than current version.
One thing I am sure : plz, quick link drop down menus should be welcome !!!!
About rate now...hum...I think number of download could be good criteria because ,as you know, there isn't so much people voting...numb of vote criteria give a right approach but it's not the case for rate : "I vote for my movie, I'm the only personn that vote for it and so I'm "10" !!!" (this is a example !!!!).
Anyway it's a great idea to ask users about their interface wishes !
Long life for FlashKit & have a good Flash

    WOW

I've just seen the new layout ... superb job. It's great to have a site like Flashkit ask for comments/suggestions from its members. It makes us feel like one big family.
