I was planning on doing a website for an uncle of mine who is an extremely wonderful artist, and he doesnt want his artwork stolen. I would be doing the site in flash with perhaps a bit of html. Do any of you know of any way to protect art online, to keep people from stealing it on their computer. If it was in flash they could just press 'print screen' and copy and paste it. I could watermark it, but there are ways around that. Any ideas?

I think putting a low quality watermarked picture would be the best idea.. they can copy that too, but there's not much use of that.

I would assume his artwork would be larger sized prints, at least 8 x 10. So if you just put small pictures of the artwork in a lower quality .gif, even if somone did steal it, there is no way they would beable to enlarge it to a decent sized print, and still look good. I think that is your best bet.
Or you could also do like other sites I have seen in simmilar situation, write somthing like "SAMPLE" in large block letters accross the print. In reality I dont know how well that works, and im sure somone who was so inclined could get rid of it. But just an idea.

Even if you put the artwork into flash, it can be ripped.
I think the watermark is your best option.
