Flax FX is a text animation program like SWiSH. BUT...Flax only animates text. You type some text into a text feild and then apply the appropriate effect you want and then the color and then the font and that's all. You can only do one effect at a time. Flax 1.04 could only save as .swf but now in 1.10 Flax has it's own file name. But you can still publish it to a .swf
I like SWiSH much better but Flax offers some really cool text animations. Here are some screenshots of Flax 1.10 on my system:

Sorry for the huge image...I'll delete it later...

    Smile it's ok ...

My brother and I are using it.
You're right, it does nothing other than text.
But one thing I do like are the faders on the effects sttings. But I wish it handled images ...
It does however have some strange and interesting effects I can use quickly in the corporate world.
Not that you couldn't actually do them in Flash itself.

    Here's a better description:

FlaX creates real-time awesome Flash text effects, which you then process in Macromedia Flash, or use straight on your web site. FlaX consists of a WYSIWYG interface, which turns the creation of professional text effects into a matter of adjusting some sliders and pressing some buttons. FlaX' direct processing capabilities make sure that you never have to guess what your settings will look like: you are already looking at the result!

But like I said...it's only text.

You mean when you import it into Flash? If so, yes. When you import any text effect into flash from a .swf file each letter will be converted to a symbol. Is that what you mean? If not try to be a little more specific...

(Do me a favor and ask your questions about FlaX FX to the FlaX forum....if I was a mod I'd move this there but I can't...that's where this thread belongs...)

i'm sure this thread will be moved shortly...

yes, that's exactly what i mean... some progs (not text fx ones... but ones like swift3D) don't export the shape to the symbol library...

ok... here's another question, but i have to give you an example to ask it correctly:

if you make an effect with the same font, but multiple colors, does it export each colored letter, or just one and then fixes the tint properties of the instance???

Sorry, but FlaX only lets you have one color for the entire sentence. You can not have different colors for each letter.
You can only have one effect at a time and one color at a time.

However...if you want to have a Flax effect in a Flash movie and want different colors you can simply double click on the letter in the Flash movie (not in edit mode) and tint the color.

I hope I have explained this well.

    BTW:
I do not have Swift 3D so I just learned something new! Thanks!

hmmmm... it seems this Flax isn't all that great... especially if you want to do lots of animations with the same text (in swish, if you're doing a lot of effects, it's best to do them all in the same .swi, import all of it at once, and then break it up inside flash... that way, you don't have to import the same symbol over and over again)

I know it will seem that way but once you see how many cool effects FlaX has and can do...you'll be stupified. There are 16 effects that have mini effects in each. I'm serious about how much it can do (effect wise that is...)

    Smile just use it wisely

    I agree with sog_webmaster

yes flax does have it's linitations, but used in the appropriate situation it can be really cool. There are effects in it that you just can't find anywhere else. Especially if you don't have a ton of time between creation and the client.
Just use it wisely, like any other effect generator ...

You got it. That's how I use it. I have descriptions of sections on my site that show up on a hover and the effects are awesome and were done in FlaX.
I do suggest you buy FlaX if you are into makin intros a lot! And even if you're not...it's still a great tool!
