I downloaded the demo today ( 3 times )and tried to unzip it, a message came up " this is not a winzip file " please look at the link.

can this program edit the swfx effects
change color, bold part of the text without bolding all of it, use different font for some words but not all. etc...

If this program works like I think it will ya I am on board

I downloaded the file and got the old "choose a program to open this file". The answer was to just add the .exe extension and all was well.

I was getting some odd graphics redraw errors and screen corruption, but then I was just pushing buttons before reading the manual (hey, I always do that )

Looks good so far. I just bought Swish 2.0 about two weeks ago since I got sick of fiddling about taking a long time to do simple things in FlashMX. But although Swish is good for many things (a great little program) it's in a different niche from Linx and happily enough perfectly covers some of the holes in Swish.

I especially like audio importing as swf and having a defined length on the timeline).

The various streaming and/or load options are also excellent. I do have one question though: If you choose the sprite option for elements, do those elements preload before any part of the swf starts playing, or do they attempt to load when the playhead reaches them ?

Anyway, I'm really saving questions until after I've had a good play.

Looks very nice though especially since I already have Flix and SWFX.

I think Macromedia better think a bit harder about user-friendliness and work ergonomics, because products like Swish, Flix and Linx are showing them what can be done with some real imagination.

It's also interesting to see where this whole video and swf market is heading. I was exporting FlashMX files as AVI, then importing them into VegasVideo3 (much better than Premiere IMHO) and combinging that with video, then exporting an edited avi and encoding with Flix for the web.

With Linx it looks as if I need not go for the full Vegas edit job and can just combine swf files instead. Hopefully this will result in a much smaller file size. But I'll have to do some experiments first

And one other question: If I create a swf file from Linx which contains a swf video file made in Flix with SWFX titles, then use Flix to add a player, how do I reatin all the nice Flix parameters for bitrates, preload amounts etc (apolgies if this is in the manual - haven't finished reading it yet). Does going this route reduce web streaming and encoding-in-a-player possibilities ?

    Hi.
Thanks for the positive feedback. I'll try to answer your questions. Let me know if I miss something.

    >>>>I do have one question though: If you choose the sprite option for elements, do those elements preload before any part of the swf starts playing, or do they attempt to load when the playhead reaches them ?

Files played as sprites preload when the player reaches those files in the timeline.

Linx will retain your Flix settings (such as bitrate control). So when you export from Linx, your file will still have the same settings (be aware that if it's a sprite, however, the file preloads). When you use Flix to add a player to an existing swf, the play controls work on elements of the SWF that are set to play on the main timeline - they don't control sprites.

Yes, you can edit Flix and SWFX files in Linx.
    What's the question specifically?

I have some swfx effects that I would like to edit.
If in swfx I choose a text color the whole text is the same color. I would like some bold and some not.

I would like to make a header a different color while the text be black. Just for an example
    thank for the replay

    You can do that.
You would have to make them the way you want individually in SWfX and then bring them into Linx. You can change the color of a SWfX effect in Linx, but it's easier to do it in SWfX originally.
