Synchronising sound with movie
Hi,
Anyone know how I can ensure that my sound is synchronised with my movie. The two seem to start at different times everytime I view the file over the internet. I have also had to fool the movie into playing the sound far later than it should so that it is synchronised, or close to when playing through the web.
How can I make sure that they both start at exactly the right time, when viewing over the web?

What are you trying to sync? Music and animation, voice and lip sync, something else?
Sync only works if the animation and the sound are on the same timeline, and not much else going on in the movie at the same time. The sound has to be on a layer, in frames, stretched out so you see the blue jagged line. Start the first frame where you want the sound to start and set the sound Sync to Stream. Any timeline over 1000 frames will start to drift out of sync. Also, slower framerates work much better. Like 12-15 fps.

This outputs a txt file that you can use as an #include or copy the code to the actions panel. It forces the animation to match the sound. You can even use an mp3 with loadSound to keep the file small. Also, with some sound programs, you can add markers to the sound file which can be read and used to force sync back on track or to raise or lower the volume as it moves along.

Cool. Thanks for this. Flashamp looks like the way I want to go. If you want to see what I mean - go to www.clubedition.co.uk. This is one of my first attempts and is a teaser for the site me and another guy are building.
The kick drum starts just as the logo becomes large - or at least - it is supposed to.
How do I get Flashamp? Is it freeware or do I need to buy it?

FlashAmp isn't free. You need the Standard version for what you are doing now. To make those jumping bar equalizer things you need Pro, which you can upgrade to later without paying more than the original Pro price.
I'm on 56K here, and your drums came in when the EDITION word came in and started to grow.

The best free way to sync music in animation is to do this. Add the song in a frame. Then double click the frame and go down to sync. Select stream and then the way it plays in the movie is how it will play online. Another convience of streaming is that the file size is drastically lowered and you can hear the music inside the timeline.
