    Scar Effect?

    Team-

How could I accomplish a "scar" effect on someone’s skin? I hate to use it as an example, but I am looking for something along the lines of how Charles Manson's swastika scar on his forehead looks....I am sure we all know what that looks like unfortunately.

    I am using using PS7...

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

Well, not sure there is one tried and true method. Layer blending and a little experimentation should do the trick. Take a look at the attached PSD. This look like what you’re going after?

I actually think the tools most important to this type of image alteration are the "Transform" tool (skew, distort), Possibly the "Distort" filters (spherize), as well as the "Liquify" tool used to conform the graphic desired to represent the (in this case) "scar" to the image it's places on. Then it's a matter of tweaking - playing with the layer blending modes, opacity, etc. to
    achieve the desired effect.

In this case I also applied the "Noise filter" in combination with a motion blur and "Bevel & Emboss" to (at least attempt) achieve the striations common in a "SCAR".

    Good Luck.
