shoutcast servers
anyone here have experience dealing with shoutcast server hosts? im looking to setup an internet radio station and don't quite know how it all works.
anyone done this before? im looking to get a 100 connection setup and plan on running 24/7.
i found this package:
• 75 GB traffic
• Unlimited listeners
• $4.20 per 10GB
of additional traffic
• 150 MB on demand space
or web hosting
Free Setup
for $32 a month...sounds like a good deal.
my question is: lets say i ran nothing but hour long mixes 24/7 at 128kbps, would i go over 75 GB of traffic?
if thats not a good deal, can someone suggest a good shoutcast host?

I just use my PC as my shoutcast server. I then setup a subdomain on my server, which re-directs to my local IP which is streaming the music and talk.

You could sign up for 1and1 hosting on a dedicated server for $49 a month - including 500 GB of bandwidth, 40 GB HD, Celeron 2.0 GHz or better, and 256 MB DDR RAM. At $59 a month, they'll even take care of all of your updates, security, etc. for you. Then, you can use Shoutcast's directions and set it up yourself on your server. That's what I would do, anyhow.
By the way, 1and1 is the world's largest host, and they also are among the best for ontime and speed. I've heard of some e-mail tech support issues, but they also have phone support.

Digital, I can't access your server. What kind of music are you streaming, anyway?

Hrm, works fine on both of my machines here...?
Static IP is: http://146.115.94.97:8000/
Anyways, i'm streaming mostly rock, some rap, but mostly emo/pop/britpop/acoustic music.
