Free-verse poetry

Does anyone here have much experience/insight into this dreaded form of poetry?

I have done alot of research into the structure (read: none :P) of free verse and also looked into many examples but when it comes time to write my own (english assignment, not a person endeavour).

The topic is a local landmark, and I've picked our marina/harbour area... how would you guys approach it?

stream of conscience, is a good way to work. just start writing what ever comes to mind. as you write youll eventually stubble on to something. you can edit when your done, and pull out what youl ike and is good.
