    Exercise Recommendations

I was wondering about some specific exercises you would recommend, more specifically for bulking up the pectorals.

Also, any tips in general for exercising are welcome. Basically, my goal is to bulk up, being I've been too skinny for too long I was wondering about some specific exercises you would recommend, more specifically for bulking up the pectorals.

I just started working out with a trainer dude...
to bulk down and build some strength.

he is kicking my ass. it's good though..
iv'e been doing it for about 6 weeks now 3-5 days a week.

you could do push-ups at your house to work your pecs.
I would recommend finding a small local gym and a friend to work out with. You need some equipment to get started imho. then do bench presses starting with just the bar if you can't do weight.

Aren't there like protein shakes and stuff to help bulk up?

    food is my biggest problem.
i am a hopeless junk food junkie.
i need to learn to make better choices and prepare better meals.

Haha, I was just joking with MarkP, point out that its not flab that is the issue, its the fact that there's nothing there at all. <edit> As Gerbick said.</edit>

To be honest, I need to work the abs to. But thats pretty straight forward.

    2. Flyes: Use the universal fly machine for this exercise. It works extremely well for hitting the pecs. The key to working and building the inner pecs with this exercise lies in your mind. Make your pecs squeeze together at completion of the movement and really flex them at the point where your arms are brought together. Do this movement slowly and strictly. Inhale as you slowly allow the weight to fall back on the stack, widening your arms. Use a fluid motion and exhale as your pecs force the weight up and your arms back together. This can be murder on your pecs…just what you want!
That's the one... it kills me.

man, first of all force yourself to eat right. Buy one of those protein stuff that you mix with milk, and eat that, with a proper diet. Lots of proteins and proteins. If you're skinny, there's nothing you can build muscle from. You have to gain weight. If while gaining weight, you train, you are on the good track.

I was on this "all you can eat" diet, including two big shakes of full protein. Going to the gym 1hr 6days a week. Went from 135 to 160lb in 3 months. Now, i haven't gone to the gym for 1 month, and stopped eating right, i went back to 140 . So, again, two keys for whatever muscle you want to build, eat right, and never stop training.

Nutrition is 90% of the equation, so do some reading about that, first. High protein + high simple carbs early + low fat = lean mass gain.

Now, as for building the muscle. You can't JUST build up your pecs. It doesn't work that way. Your body is one entity, it grows as a whole. In order to build mass in your chest, you must also build mass throughout your body. If you're a novice with weights, I'd suggest maybe having a plan designed for you, or maybe get a trainer.

Another thing; NEVER workout the same bodypart more than twice a week. A lot of people think that if they just do 500 pushups a day, they'll have Arnie's pecs. Nope.

    Here's my regimen;

Day 1: Legs (squats, dead lifts, calf raises, leg press)
Day 2: Chest / Triceps (dumbbell bench press, incline bench, decline bench, flat flies, dips, tricep extensions, "skull crushers", tricep pulldowns)
Day 3: Back / Biceps (various back machines at local gym, lat pulldowns, pullups, db curls, etc.)
Day 4: Shoulders (military press, shoulder press, standing flies, etc.)

Let me know if you need any help.

    Which begged the question: Why?

    Then I read:

And realized the err of my ways.

my advice is to NOT bulk up, as you will have to keep it up forever...especially with pecs. all those morons that over-lifted in their teens and early twenties have huge saggy man boobs now. and now that i'm part of the 30-something set, i'm thrilled that i kept myself lean (read skinny) all those years.

i would get lots of cardio exercise 5 days a week, and then do simple things like pushups, situps, and lots of reps with smaller weights everynight. this will give you a lean body that will treat you well when your metabolism disappears at age 26....

Ah, these boys is all swelled up. So this was earlier...getting set to trade. Then, woooaaah differences.

Haha. To be honest, I don't want to be hugely ripped, I'm more going for just a little more mass and some definition. Most of you have been pretty helpful (with the exclusion of MarkP, of course ) thanks.
