Talking FLASH 8 and MOBILES ?

    Hi,
Thought maybe someone has some info or maybe links to examples about Flash 8 and mobile phones.
Any idea if phones would need a special Flash player or would Flash8 output a stand-alone *.sis ( for Symbian ) file that could be installed on the phone?

    Thanx!

Nope, Flash 8 Player is not available on mobile phones. The activex, and plugin versions are still in public beta.

We can always hope for this in the future.

No, i thought WOULD ( in the future, when Studio 8 will be released ). Would it need a player or would it produce stand-alone ( *.sis ? ) files?

    Thanx!

There is no Flash 8 Player on mobiles. Macromedia have made no announcements of any kind relating to Flash 8 on mobile phones.

However in 8ball there is a new Mobile Test Environment, for testing your Flash Lite applications.

You can get Flash Player 6 on mobiles, its called Flash Lite and i believe it to be a .sis file yes. However the movies you play are actually .swf files.

Oh, I see, so to play a Flash content onto a mobile phone, one has to BUY & INSTALL the FlashLite Player first?

Unless of course it comes with your phone already. Macromedia now have deals with Nokia, Samsung and other big mobile phone manufacturers to have Flash Lite installed by default on new phone models.
