how to implement and charge(not actual price) advertising on a portal site

    hi,

I am planning to develop a tourism portal site that should feature events, places for food, entertainment, accomodation and other forms of leisure. I intend it to be focused on local places and events (for now). The problem I have is that this is the first of its kind for me to implement. These are my questions:

-Do I charge per advert/banner on the site or for a certain period like a month?

-If I'm charging per period, how often should it appear, at what time of the day, how many times? Is it the norm that the Client determines the time it shows and how often it appears?

-Obviously the client would like evidence that the advert/banner was shown. He/she cant be on the internet watching the site 24hrs of the day, so should there be some notice to the client that the advert has been displayed?

-Should the advert or banner appear for a certain interval, say 2hours on a day?

I've never done this before, any additional information or links would be greatly appreciated.

    thanx for your time!!!
