Star Wars Text Effect.

Hello,

I am trying to achieve a star-wars like text effect. The closest I could come to one was:

However I am not familiar with displacement filters and I don't like the grainyness of the text in that effect.

I figured the star wars effect could be achieved somehow by matrix transformations on a block of text, but I'm not sure on the details (it's been a while since Matricies.)

Anyone have any ideas?
