    Pretty good deal

I just picked up a Maxotr - One Touch 300GB external drive at my local best buy for $150. It supports Firewire and USB2. I thought that was a pretty good deal.

The case appears very solid and it's super quiet.

My 2 smaller drives 120 & 150 are full of backups. My hot little P4 lappy has been worrying me lately.

Just thought I would let anyone else know who might be in need of new external storage .

    250gb Western Digital for $99

But that Maxtor... I was looking at one here locally. Found an open box buy, but decided against it. Looking for a network storage instead - too many OS's here.

I had countless HDs fail on me. I realised they were running too hot 40 degrees plus... so I changed the lay out of my case, mounted the drives on the floor of the case sideways on and placed a 120 fan in front of them, sucking cold air in, straight through them...

Dropped the temps to 20-38 and (fingers crossed) I haven't had a failure since.

So get DTemp and if you're drives are hot, do something quickly!
