Holy 3d mesh generator!!.. Not exactly Flash related but you can imagine the significance this kind of program could have for designing games.

the tool is called "face gen modeler" from Singular Inversions:
    http://www.facegen.com/modeller.htm
played with it myself already,- tried my face, my GF and some other people I know the results are pretty good though not always as perfect as shown in the video.

If you have a front and a side photo of your face you still need to set certain spots like mouth edges and nose edges but once setup it can analyse your photos and generate a mesh based on it.
Once defined you can later your own face lets say making it look more asian or african very funny

    tom cruise nice one,-
still if you want to use it in a project or game you still need to model the rest of the body.
Imo. face gen modeler is rather a toy than beeing really usefull for head meshes. Even though you can use your own meshes as base polygon setup I still believe that modeling yourself is the better solution for hiRes renderings or realtime engies- because it gives you better control over the Mesh, UV and texture - the only con is that it requires much expierence for good models.

while we are still at wow course have you guys seen this tech video already?

in particular case those videos below (esspecially the 2nd longer version at the end). Can´t be described with words!

    Hmm.I think it's a very useful tool.
Firsly, we can't use realtime 3d in Flash as of yet (though you're working on that, right?) so, the amount of poly's in a mesh is redundant for still rendering.
Secondly, whilst artistic talent undoubtably has its merits, so does being resourceful. Body meshes can either be modifed from the millions online (3d Meshes Research Database esp.), taken from Poser and exported to Max, or created via doing a bit of work with the bipeds- (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6AXOsNrl3KA)
With the MultiRes tool you can easily reduce the polycount of the head anyway. Probably down to as far as 14% of the original. Then it's just a matter of joining a few neck vertices or boolean addition. Either way it's not going to matter much about badly connected limbs at quite small resolutions.
