What type of server and programming languages are available on your server? Also, I've worked with a few pre-built e-commerce engines and have found that it's just easier to write one myself to custom fit my clients needs. I'm a programmer though. One that I personally avoid like the plague is Agora cart.

Another question you might ask yourself is, what types of products are you selling and what types of options would you like to give yourself and your users. Products like a CD and a Movie could be simply displayed as Title, description and price. Or if you want to give your user more detail, you could get into things like track listings and a whole mess of other things. These are things that I would ask myself to help determine if using an inexpensive pre-built cart or having someone make you a custom cart is your best option.

thanks flann. i'm actually not going to be selling anything, but i pretty much need the same system as a commerce site, because i want pics and prices. I was just going to take off the buy now feature
