    Drawing cartoon Backgrounds

I would like to draw some cartoon backgrounds:

    City
    Park
    Funfair
    House
    Skatepark

Any GOOD free tutorials for creating backgrouds?

Then i would like to put it into flash to animate it. What is best to use graphics tablet over sketches or use black marker pen then scan the sketches in????

It's probably best to use a graphics tablet. The best is a Wacom.
This animator uses a Wacom to create his backgrounds.

If you don't have a tablet or aren't good with a tablet some people use Adobe illustrator to convert the scanned artwork to vector format.

    Hi Chrissy ~
It would be very helpful if you could give us an idea of your skill level and amount of experience. You've asked a pretty broad question so it would help us to determine where exactly to focus our advice. For example, you ask whether or not it's a good idea to scan in your sketches. Does this mean you can proficiently draw what you want on paper and are just asking for the best advice on how to get it into Flash, or are you interested in knowing how to draw the thing to begin with?

Your question about animating it is a whole other subject altogether. If we take this one step at a time and concentrate on specifics, you'll get a higher quality of assistance from the members of this board.

I can proficiently draw most things

I can draw what I want on paper with most things but I do not have much experience in drawing background especially cartoon backgrounds. I would also like the best advice on how to get it into Flash as there are many differing views to importing into Flash.

I do not have a WACOM tablet I have another type of graphics tablet, which I use only when I have to. I prefer drawing on paper but which is best?

I don't understand. Why would you want to animate a background?

I'm sorry I should be more clear

I'm sorry I should be more clear. I am about to start a couple of animation projects using Flash (cartoon) and I would like to know more about animating backgrounds or the best way to make it look like the background is moving in Flash.
